Hi All,
XMP newbie here trying to understand how far I can push this product. In the doco it describes FilterExpression as 'a WHERE clause... without the WHERE'. This implies that the filtering can only work when the value you are filtering on is contained in a single table. Which is an issue for me as the table I want to filter doesn't contain the value I want the user to enter, but the ID of the row in another table that contains that value. To be precise, I want for example to filter a list of employee skills by role. The employeeskills table doesn't contain the role name but rather the ID of the role, whose name is held in a separate table, imaginatively called 'Roles'. So I effectively need to do an INNER JOIN as part of the filter expression. Is this feasible at all - my attempts to write such a thing break pretty badly.
I will post the full listdatasource construct and my idea of a filter as comments using fiddles which may make my question clearer.
