# XMod Pro 4.9.7 Released XMod Pro 4.9.7 is now available for download: **[https://dnndev.com/clients/downloads](https://dnndev.com/clients/downloads)** This is a maintenance release for DNN 9.2 and later, including DNN 10. It is free for licenses with an active subscription as of **2026-09-04**. ## Before you install - **Check your subscription.** The release date associated with this build is 2026-09-04. If your license is not active as of that date, the module will not function after upgrading. You can check or renew at [https://dnndev.com/Activity-Feed/Subscriptions](https://dnndev.com/Activity-Feed/Subscriptions). - **Back up first.** Take a backup of your database and web files before upgrading, so you can roll back quickly if needed. - **Pick the right package.** The download contains two installers: - **DNN92** for DNN 9.2.0 through 9.x (.NET Framework 4.7.2) - **DNN10** for DNN 10.0.0 and later (.NET Framework 4.8) ## What's changed - **SECURITY:** Hardened input validation in the feed handler (Feed.aspx). Malformed requests now return a 404. All customers are encouraged to upgrade. - **FIXED:** License activation on sites running a non-default culture (for example English (UK)) logged "The relative virtual path 'license.ascx.host.resx' is not allowed here" and failed. - **FIXED:** License activation failures are now reported to you (session expired, license file not writable, save failed) and logged in the DNN Event Viewer instead of failing silently or producing a fatal page error. - **FIXED:** License activation failed with "Your activation details could not be found" when the server's in-process session was lost between clicking Activate and clicking Update (application pool recycle, or http/https requests routed to different worker processes behind an SSL-offload proxy). The in-progress license now survives a lost session. - **FIXED:** An XMod Pro module placed on the site's configured 404 page caused a DNN application error for every not-found URL. **Note:** for this fix to take effect, DNN's *Page State Persistence* setting must be **Page**, not **Memory** (Settings > Servers > Performance in DNN 9 and later). With Memory persistence, DNN itself fails on the transferred 404 request before XMod Pro runs, which XMod Pro cannot work around. ## XMod Pro 5 is in public beta At long last, XMod Pro v.5 is almost here, and it's out now in beta.
