XMod Pro Ignite Session At DNN World

In this blog post, I'll make a few brief reflections on the event and also post links for the Ignite Sessions that were a highlight of the Friday afternoon events that closed out the show. If you haven't read through the event notes and pictures that I posted during the days and nights of the event, be sure to check out the earlier post from last month, XMod Pro - Building Community At DNN World 2012.

DNN World 2012 Recap & Reflections

DNN World 2012
Wow, it was an awesome trip to Orlando for DNN World 2012!

You Should Go Next Year
-------------------
Well, finally time for me to put together a recap of DNNWorld 2012... Or perhaps more correctly reflections on the event a month or so after the event. It's been several weeks now and I've caught up with work and family after bring down in Florida that whole week meetings with clients in Orlando and the DNN World at the end of the week.

My first thought to share with anyone asking themselves the question, "Should I attend DNNWorld?" my encouragement is YES. If you can afford to go, or can afford to have employees attend, GO.

At my company, the Moore Creative Company, we consider ourselves DNN Integrators. We use DNN as a development platform to create custom website solutions for corporate clients. That's part of why XMod Pro is such a game changer for us... We're able to use it to accomplish any type of creation we possibly need for any request that clients bring us!

At the convention, it was great to meet the developers of some of our favorite and most important utility modules that, like XModPro, we use on almost every site we build in DNN. It was great to meet with companies that sent down users and DNN administrators for training. It was great to meet with other integrators like ourselves. It was great to meet with DNN corp. It was great to meet with developers making custom modules...

Maybe you see the picture at this point... The fantastic thing about being there with everyone was the community! Having allow those people together was what MADE the event so valuable. The interactions and networking with other users, admin, developers, module makers... they all came together to make the value of the event more than just the sum of the conversations.

I think that every type of person regardless of their specific role with DNN felt the energy and benefit of those community and group times where we all mingled, discussed, shared, networked, and expressed our connection in the DNN community. Community was at the heart of the messaging of the event, and the community spirit was electric at times.

The value that we received from attending and participating was well worth the trip and time invested. Already we've benefited from new connections made and a renewed sense of excitement for our part in the ecosystem of DNN.

XMod Pro Ignite Session At DNN World

At the Charlotte Day Of DotNetNuke that we hosted earlier Summer 2012, we had Ignite Sessions. For those who may not have heard of Ignite, it is a series of quick 5 minute presentations on any topic that you are passionate about. The idea is to speak plainly, simply but with passion and to hopefully impart that excitement for the topic and IGNITE that excitement in others. Each presentation consists of 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. This format requires speakers to be organized and succinct and allows us to get through 8 speakers in our 50 minute timeslot.

Those who attended the Day of DotNetNuke Charlotte know how powerful this format can be, those who attended DNN World 2012 got a real treat as every session was well put together, excellently delivered and truly, was the highlight of the closing events on Friday afternoon!

You can see a full list of of all of the Ignite sessions here: DotNetNuke Ignite Sessions or perhaps easiest by going through the videos posted on the DNN youTube channel: DotNetNuke youTube Channel

But to be helpful, I wanted to post a few favorites here in the blog

XMod Pro Ignite Session - "Building Custom DNN Solutions With XMod Pro"

My intent was to put together and present an Ignite session that quickly explains how powerful and exciting it can be to build custom DNN solutions with XMod Pro. It went fast and I think that I only missed a couple of talking points that I wanted to touch on, so pretty good I think for my first Ignite. I plan on bringing a version of this around and presenting at DNN User Groups going forward, so nothing like national-level practice to kick it off!

In the MooreCreative XMOD PRO Development Blog, I'll try to share some of the thoughts and ideas that we've come up with on a day-to-day basis as my development company uses DNN + XMOD PRO to tackle client projects. I'll include items such as tips/tricks, did-you-know articles, troubleshooting/testing examples as well as posting samples solutions and explanations behind our experience working with XMOD and jQuery functions, PageBlaster, ZLDNN Article, and other modules/elements.

If you would like to see us tackle a topic, especially anything out of the forums that could use further examples, please, don't hesitate to email me, and I'll look into preparing it for a blog post.
