XModPro

DNN gives you a website.
XMod Pro gives it everything else.

From a contact form you build in five minutes to a product catalog, a Q&A section, a staff directory, or a dashboard reading live from your SQL Server.

Our module. Your data. Your site: Finished.

One price — unchanged since 2009.

The DNN module problem

DNN is a great site foundation. It isn't a finished site.

Out of the box, DNN gives you users, roles, pages, and an HTML module. That's the foundation.

The moment you need a contact form, a searchable directory, a photo gallery, a product catalog, or a place to drop custom JavaScript, you need a module. And then another one. And another. Each from a different vendor, on a different update cycle, each with its own way of doing things.

The typical "make DNN actually do things" cart

  • News / blog module$119
  • Gallery module$119
  • Form module$79
  • Data grid / SQL reporting$249
  • Directory (often improvised)
$566+ across 4+ vendors

XMod Pro

Does all of those. And the ones you haven't thought of yet.

The same price it's been since 2009.

A complete application builder

Nearly anything a DNN site needs to do, XMod Pro can build.

The scope runs from a contact form you finish before lunch to a Q&A section with threaded replies and Markdown editing. The examples below are a sample of what real people have shipped.

Some examples of what else you can build

  • Contact and feedback forms

What you control

Your data. Your layout. Your rules.

Every purpose-built module arrives with opinions baked in — someone else's layout, someone else's feature set, someone else's idea of what data is worth tracking. XMod Pro arrives with none of that.

Your data. Whatever you need to track, in whatever shape you need it. XMod Pro reads and writes the DNN database directly — and other SQL Server databases too, when the data lives elsewhere. Tables you already have, stored procedures you've already written, views you've already tuned. Nothing about what a record looks like, or which fields matter, is decided for you.

Your layout. Forms look the way you want them to look. Output looks the way you want it to look. Your HTML, your CSS, your class names — no module-author styling to override, no "theme" to work around.

Your rules. Which fields are required. What gets validated and how. What happens on submit. What filters appear. What columns show up in what order. What gates the data behind which roles. None of it is a default you have to fight. It's whatever you decide it should be.

New in version 5

An IDE for DNN.

XMod Pro 5 is rewritten from the ground up to work the way modern developer tools work. If you live in VS Code, you already know how this fits.

Platform foundation

  • DNN 10 compatibility — while keeping DNN 9.2+ support.
  • New Control Panel built on modern JavaScript, CSS, and APIs.
  • jQuery and jQueryUI retired from the Control Panel.
  • Global settings — editor styling, backup limits, keyboard shortcut reference. New

Two new building blocks

  • Watch Dog. One-click scan for security and configuration issues across your forms, views, and feeds. Ships with baseline checks in v5; more rules arriving through the cycle. New
  • Expression Tokens. A new, more flexible way to work with values inside XMod Pro resources. Details and examples coming with the v5 documentation. New
Coming from v4? The things you already know how to do still work the same way. The v5 additions are additive — new capabilities, not rebuilt versions of old ones. Your existing forms, views, and feeds come along unchanged.
Building for DNN since 2004

22 years on DNN.
Same team.
Same priorities.

XMod shipped in 2004, when DNN was still called DotNetNuke. XMod Pro launched in 2009. Version 5 ships in 2026. During that time many vendors and modules have come and gone — but we've remained, because your success has always been our product, not the software.

What customers say

DNN's own team chose XMod Pro for dnnsoftware.com.

"XMod Pro allowed us to quickly build custom functionality for the dnnsoftware.com launch. Because of its speed and versatility, it is one of the very few third party modules that we allow on the site."

Joe Brinkman, Co-Founder and Former Technical Fellow, DNN Corp.

"This is my favorite module in the DNN store. It is a huge time saver."

Mark Luffred, Pharma International

"Where would I be without XMod Pro? I have built dozens of apps with it."

Angus Beare, Developer

"This 'toolbox' is really incredible. By adding some jQuery you can build an entire web application."

Antoine LaPlante, Developer

Questions people actually ask

The short answers.

Do I need to know .NET?

No. XMod Pro is built around its own focused templating language, designed for exactly this kind of work. HTML helps for views, feeds, and custom HTML layout forms. If you build with the Form Builder, you don't even need that. Your data is the same way — visual tools for tables, queries, and relationships, with SQL there when you want more control.

Which DNN versions does v5 support?

DNN 9.2 and later in the 9.x line, and DNN 10 and later. Older XMod Pro builds for DNN 5.x through 9.1 are still available to download for existing license holders — they're just not sold as new.

What database does it need?

SQL Server. You can access both the DNN database and external SQL Server databases.

Can I really try it before I buy?

Yes, and you should. The trial is full-featured for 14 days. Build something you actually want to build in that window; see whether XMod Pro is the right fit for how you think.

I already own v4. What's different in v5?

A lot! A new Control Panel. Tab-based editing. Global search and a command palette. Projects as a way to organize your forms, views, and templates for better visibility and easier access. Auto-backups and version history with semantic diffs. A rewritten Form Builder with far more controls and layout options. Full editing of database tables, including indexes. A built-in localization editor. Debug Mode with SQL and token visibility. And underneath it all, DNN 10 support with a modern, jQuery-free Control Panel.

How does XMod Pro compare with other DNN tools?

XMod Pro follows its own philosophy. We don't watch what other tools are doing, and we don't try to match them. We create features based on direct customer feedback and discussions. While XMod Pro can build most anything in DNN, it may not fit your development style. We provide point-and-click tools, but to give you maximum power and flexibility, we don't hide the more technical details from you. If XMod Pro fits what you're trying to build, it's likely the best fit you'll find. If it doesn't, that's fine too — we're not trying to be everyone's everything.

What kind of support comes with it?

Direct from the team — no tier-one queue, no ticket triage. The quickest path is Answers or Discuss on dnndev.com (and the answer often helps the next person too). For account-specific or sensitive issues, drop us a note through the help desk.

The fastest way to know if XMod Pro is the right fit is to put it to work. Fourteen days, full features, no card.
