"Hi, I have Xmod Pro 2.0 installed on my root site, but want to use the forms on a portal site. When I load the formview on the portal, it won't show any of the forms that I've created while on the root site. How can I get this to display and use the forms I've created on the portal site? "

There are two ways you can approach this:

1) Login in to the portal as Host/SuperUser and create the forms/templates there.

2) Go to the /Portals/_default/XModPro/ directory. There you'll find a Forms directory and Templates directory. Within each of those directories you'll find folders for each portal for which a form/template has been created. The directories are named with the portal's numeric ID. If a folder for your portal doesn't exist, simply create it. The move or copy the forms/template files from your host portal's directory (typically 0) to the new portal's folder.

Best,
Kelly

Thanks for the info on this Kelly! A couple of follow up questions or notes regarding multiple portals or child portals,

1.we have a website where the majority of pages have xmod views or forms. each new portal in the site needs to start from the same original portal's setup of pages, structure, and most importantly all the xmod that's been put into it! So we've done a portal export, with module content... assuming that we go in and make copies of the templates/forms folders for the portal as described above, will each of these modules have their content/settings brought over in that portal template/import? How does XMP do with portal template export?

2. related, how does it do with the module level Export of a template and then Import?

As far as the code is concerned, in the original forms/templates, we were careful to always specify portal tokens in queries, so the data coming through will be good, but we're obviously looking for a way that, if we're looking ahead to create portal after portal, that we don't have to do hours of setup on each page, on each module every time we setup a new portal just to specify the same settings that were present in the original portal.

* feature request(?) - how about considering a checkbox in the xmod settings, or control panel, or license screen for essentially "look across all portals for xmod pro forms/templates" or "look to portal 0 for xmod pro forms/templates", or even more fancy, a dropdown selector for portal to look to? Similar to how zlldnn's modulewrapper has an option to allow you to pull modules from across other portals if selected. this way we could keep a good copy of forms/templates in the core/original portal zero, and then use it across all portals. benefits are plenty, including the fact that we'd then have only one spot to edit/change code to affect all portals : )
