It would be very nice to be able to share data between portals. This would come in very handy when setting portals up to support child organizations. The headquarters and branch locations could use xmod to keep information up to date at eacg location, but only require a single entry point. Great for announcements, news, contact information...... you get the idea.

Would even work great for the calendar as you could role up or down events.

Using Syndication for XMod to produce RSS feeds would go some way to sharing XMod data across portals.

All data could be managed on 1 portal say the HQ and segregated by branch/location in the form data, seperate RSS feeds could then be produced for each branch.

The latest version of Syndication (v1.3) will make this even easier.
