The subscription website model is fast becoming the number one method of income generation on the Internet today. In this article we will explore the potential of owning your own profitable subscription web site powered by XMod and DotNetNuke...

I have to admit that I have become a XMod junky. It is easy to become addicted to developing applications in XMod. But, that is not the main reason why I do it.

The main reason is, the ability to do Rapid Application Development (RAD) with XMod simply put - Makes You Money!

Today, I want to share with you the number one potential income generation model on the Internet today. With the help of XMod and DotNetNuke, you to can share in the rewards it can offer.

The subscription website model is fast becoming the number one method of income generation on the Internet today.

Jupiter Communications are a well-respected company in the US who study media trends. They expect revenue, from subscription websites, to continue to grow 20% a year.

Research by the Online Publishers Association (OPA) shows the speed of the move towards subscription websites.

• By the end of 2007, 80% of online publishers were charging a subscription for their web content. In 2004, the figure was 54%.
• Subscriptions are 90% of all online content sales; the remaining 10% are one-off sales, e.g., digital books and music.
• In the US, 16 million consumers currently pay for online content
• Paying for online content via subscription is growing 11% faster than the growth in ecommerce, i.e., buying physical goods from online stores such as Amazon.

The Subscription Web Site Business Model

• Very similar to the business model of a newsletter or magazine
• The goal is to find a niche market topic, and provide content, information, training, resources, create a sense of community, and offer downloads for that market.
• Income is generated by charging a subscription fee to access the content
• Majority of income derived from recurring revenue from subscription renewals
• Additional revenue from the sale of products, services, affiliate programs, advertising, and application development.
• The subscription business only requires a small number of subscribers to be profitable
• A subscription website does not need a large staff and can be operated by one person from anywhere in the world.
• Requires an Internet connection, a computer, subscription management and content management software
• Requires very little overhead with no printing or mailing costs
• Benefits from the creation of discussion groups and building a sense of community
• A subscription website caters to the needs and wants of the subscribers
• The subscription website model benefits from a download library

Subscription Web Site Profit Potential

• Revenue is generated per subscriber
• Operating costs remain fixed regardless of number of subscribers
• Monthly operating costs can be as little as $100.00 per month
• 500 subscribers at $9.95 a month, can generate $50,000 a year
• 1000 subscribers can generate $100,000 a year
• 5000 subscribers can generate $500,000 a year!
• Additional income can be generated from the sale of products, services, affiliate programs, advertising, and application development.

Getting Started

DotNetNuke is a powerful tool to start a subscription website with. My job is to show you how to unleash its potential to help you succeed in creating profitable online businesses.

If you think a subscription web site model may be right for you, ask yourself the following questions:

• Do you have a passion for your subject?
• Do you have a clearly defined topic that appeals to a very specific niche market
• Will you be able to create unique and exclusive content?
• Do you have enough to write about?
• Will you be able to update your content weekly and preferably daily?
• Go Niche - Are you prepared to be the world leader in your selected niche?
• Will you have an instantly compelling reason to join the site - in the form of a download library filled with the kinds of things that visitors instantly want and value?
• Do you know how to use Google to research your competition?
• Once you have researched your competition, can you do a better job?
• Do you know how to find and study Forums and newsletters?
• Do you know how to choose your website name?
• Do you know the difference between vanity names and generic names and how they will affect your success?
• Do you know what to avoid when choosing a domain name?
• Do you know the tricks of selecting a memorable domain name?
• Are you prepared to have a professional site designed?
• Are you prepared to obtain a merchant account for processing credit cards?
• Will you have an easy way for subscribers to join?
• Can you offer a subscription price within the comfort zone of your target audience?
• Are you planning to generate income with a business directory?
• Are you planning on generating higher ranking in the search engines with a link exchange?
• Are you planning to have an active discussion group?

I write from Malaysia. At age 58, I am seeking a retirement activity that gives an income as well. I have always fancied SUBSCRIPTIONS.
It is money ahead. As a junior, Iwas community representative selling Reader's Digest subscriptions. Later in my career, i attempted weekly lessons by post on selling, customer service and English Language. Very manual and time consuming, I gave up. Putting weekly lessons is no problem It is market accessability, informing target clietele etc, that bothers. KNOW HOW is not there. Therefore this insuredness appearing again.

I liked all of above......well written and nailed. Systems here did not not allow accesto view XMod-all 3.

I do not know costs of your programme, my adaptability to IT (I just learnt to access/send email)etc etc.

We can begin by communicating.

Thank You.,

ThiruselvamK
